What Life Lessons Can We Learn From Santa Claus?
While Santa Claus may be a legendary figure that is not real — but is something that, as adults, we encourage kids to believe in, there are several life lessons that we can learn from this hefty guy who delivers toys to all the good little girls and boys in the world. The problem is that most of us don’t stop and think about the life lessons we could learn. After all, Santa Claus is not real, so there is no possible way in which we can learn anything from him, right? That would be the wrong way to think because there is so much that we can learn.
The Convenience of Prelit Christmas Trees
- Giving: The art of giving is lost on a lot of people these days. Santa Claus gives to the kids without a thought for himself. Can you say that you give to anyone without thinking about yourself? We are all guilty of this. After all, how many times have you been out shopping for Christmas gifts only to think should I spend more or less because they usually spend this amount on me? This type of thinking is not really in the giving mindset.
- Joy: do you find joy in everyday life? Santa Claus does, and we could all do better in finding joy in things. Finding joy can be as simple as taking a moment to think about what you are grateful for each day or pointing out one thing that you love that you have in your life. When you do this, you start to appreciate more in your life more, which helps to ground you even more.
- Love for one another: No matter who you are, where you are from, the income bracket that you fall into, etc., Santa Claus does not care and he still loves these kids and adults. Can you say the same? In a world that is full of people judging one another, it is harder than ever than to really feel the love that you should have for one another regardless of these aspects.
- Being selfless: This goes right up there with giving back, Santa Claus is being selfless in everything that he does. He gets ready for Christmas all year, but does he get anything from doing this? Not really, he enjoys doing it and loves giving back, so that is all that he needs. Too many people want to get some sort of reimbursement for all that they do, and that is where they are not being selfless.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we raised kids who would be like Santa Claus in what they did and why they did it? It would make for a more peaceful world. So, this year for Christmas instead of buying yourself that expensive electronic that you have been keeping your eye on, why not give yourself something that will help you more in the long run? Give yourself a chance to have a life in which you give back, find joy in everyday things, love everyone no matter what, and are selfless!
